What not to do in a kilt
Okay....I think we REALLY need a resource guide of what NOT to do in a kilt for those of us who have worn pants for decades and have no idea.
For instance....let's say that I am going regimental in the middle of the day in a Utilikilt with no sporran, crossing a busy street and to beat the traffic I run at full speed towards a group of people standing on the sidewalk, with my kilt flying up in the air.
Is this a recommended course of action to follow?
It makes perfect sense in pants or shorts if you want to get across a busy street without being run over.....
Also, at my age with my joints being as painful and tender as they are, once I start running I don't want to suddenly stop because I fear that something will be torn or become detached like a leg that I might need later in life so once I start running I can't stop.
This not something that really happened to me (well....not quite) but can't we have a guide so we each won't discover these things after it's too late?

Actually the UK website's photo section has several pics of a guy bee keeping in his UK. A Workman if I recall correctly.
Best regards,

I guess I was wrong. The sturdy duck material would be like armor protecting the wearer from the stings of irritated bees. The bees might attack from the Front.HA! Their puny stings are no match for the power of the Utilikilt! The bees attack from the Left. HA! Foiled again. The bees regroup and charge from the Right. HA! No dice. The dedicated insects mount a last ditch assault to the Rear. Alas to no avail. Exhausted, dishearted, and beaten the bees retreat. At least until one bee (and there's alway one in every group isn't there) thinks out of the box and wonders how tough is this utilikilt from an attack from...UNDER!
I repeat OUCH!!!!!
Cheers

I think Running is okay. I know someone who ran a marathon in his utilikilt and a pair of workboots. Anything is possible.
ALthough I wouldn't wear my Utilikilt for sky diving, bungee jumping, go carting, triathlon, bike racing, fire frighting, and swimming.

I still say you shouldn't go horseback riding in a kilt, at least not for long periods of time. The thought of the leather of the saddle rubbing against the bare inner legs just makes me wince. And I don't even want to think about doing it regimental.
Riding a recumbent bicycle probably isn't a good idea either, for an entirely different reason.

hurdles
high jump
pole vault
all bad in a kilt
cricket also bad in a kilt, not because you actually do anything, but because you are wasting soo much time standing around when you could be off in the hills, or at a pub or surfing xmarks
as for swimming, I have swam in my kilt, and it is fine. Just be careful of small fish and hermit crabs.
