    Piper Richardson's pipes

Piper James Richardson, VC, has come up on the board before. This story is about the bagpipes he played during the First World War being returned to British Columbia. It is interesting that they were positively identified by their tartan.

    Piper Richardson

Thanks for posting that -- Nice to see that a part of Piper Richardson is coming home. I would love to see those pipes.

Once I know that the pipes are on display in the legislature, I'll go in and see if I can take a picture.
    Cheers,
    David

Many thanks! Maybe one of the local BC newpapers will have a photo online when they are "laid up" for display.

Richardson's hometown of Chilliwack, BC, has a nice section on their web site dedicated to him and a memorial there:

There are a couple of photos there that may be the set of pipes in question.

    This is a great story.

Here's an update on this story. Yesterday the pipes came home, and were mounted in the rotunda of the provincial legislature in Victoria, B.C.

The timing is fitting, given that Saturday is Remembrance Day in Canada. Piper Richardson was one brave laddie.
