Through Customs Kilted?
I just told my wife that I intend to wear my kilt on the plane to Scotland. She freaked out, and said that it'd cause a problem in customs. Anyone have any ideas about this???

My wife and I flew out of Edinburgh last year into the states with a number of men on the plane kilted. I did not see any of them hasseled when we arrived in the states.

You may not want to wear a kilt pin but other than that I can't see why it would cause a problem...well, unless you're worried about them finding out the answer to "the question" No matter how many times I beg them, they still won't search me

The only time I've been searched while kilted was last spring as I was getting on the cruise ship. Even then, I think the guy who called for the search just wanted to see if the other guy would do it. He did give me a quick pat down, but it sure wasn't much of a search.

TH, flew in my tan UK in and out of Gatwick for our little trip in October and had no problems. I also wear that same kilt whenever I fly and never had any problems. I like the UK better for travel as it has pockets and I don't have to worry about the sporran.

I didn't have any problems at Irish or U.S. Customs when I flew in my kilt. I kept the kilt pin in my checked luggage, and just ran the belt and sporran through the x-ray. The buckles of the kilt set off the detector, and they wanded me, and there weren't any issues. I expected it to happen.

Customs shouldn't be any problem. However, it's been discussed here before about going through security, especially if you have on a traditional style kilt with all the buckles. For that, take off any kilt pin, take off your sporran to run through the xray, and take off your belt (unless it's holding your kilt up of course ).
