Glasgow Teens?
I just had an interesting chat with a girl from Glasga, aged seventeen years. She seems to think that most Glaswegians think it foolish for Americans to wear the kilt casually, and even called it stupid. She also said that if you ask most Scots what they think of people wearing the kilt on a daily basis they would call you . . . well, some uncomplimentary words.
Of course, it doesn't shake my interest or wearing of the kilt at all--just thought I'd share this and see what you Scots in Scotland have to say--are we silly Americans? [of course, we have folks here at XMarks from all over the world]
Kids these days

Well I guess she's just an oddball because I saw quite a few teenage lads in casual kilts when I was in Glasgow last month and some of them had pretty young ladies on their arms. In my experience Glasgow is a kilt friendly city.

Consider the source. Teens don't like anything, and if they do they'll never let you know it.
We should all be thankful a few enlightened teens have found their way to X-marks. Hope for the future.

Except maybe in the Gorbals district, eh? Tom, is the Gorbals district as rough-n-tumble as it once was?

Well, I figured it was an exception--this girl is very into fashion and image.

What's the thought on another Scot wearing the kilt casually in the USA?

Oh great! I just ordered my first kilt from SWK not five minutes ago. Do you think she'd be a little kinder about me since I'm in Canada?

Fuggetaboudit!
The only opinion that really matters is your own.
The girl is hardly qualified to make such sweeping cultural or social admonitions.
Enjoy your kilt(s).
