    Photos of County Kilkenny tartan?

I thought it would be nice to get the wife a kilted skirt in the tartan of her ancestral home, County Kilkenny, Ireland. If I remember correctly, these are a recent invention of House of Edgar. I can't seem to get the HoE web site to produce an image of the tartan, and I am hoping for something that shows a few repeats of the pattern.

    HoE tartans page: http://www.houseofedgar.com/acatalog/Tartans.html
The drop menus don't do anything for me.

Anybody have a photo of a bolt of this fabric?

Great mill but a very dumb site - try going to:
    www.district-tartans.com
Use the tartan search feature on the left and look at the Irish county tartans - they are House of Edgar.

    From www.district-tartans.com:

Looks pretty nice. I find I have a hard time extrapolating from a tiny swatch to a whole garment, but I think this one has promise. The design is only eleven years old - even newer than I thought.

It's not the nicest Irish tartan - I think that goes to Co. Cavan.

Not hanging around Xmarks much lately, so I must have missed the introduction of district-tartans.com and the associated book. Neat site by Messrs. Newsome & Bullman.

A little work with Paintshop, and voila:

Yeah, that's workable. It has spring summer and fall in it, to my eye.

    Thanks for the link, fellows.

Looks like it would make a fine garment. I guess you'll just HAVE to have a kilt in it... you know... so that you can match the Mrs.

I have a kilt made up in this exact tartan...only problem is it does not come in anything heavyweight. If I feel ambitious, I'll get a picture and post it...I'll just need to find my digital camera in my very "organized" desk. You may want to say a prayer.

    Regards,

    Tom

I would be grateful if you could post that, Tom. Lightweight fabric would be fine for her skirt, and my wish list is already long enough.....

I have recently received a plain brown envelope containing these pictures of a kilt in County Kilkenny.

Isn't that a fine-looking tartan? The subject tells me that when he has his ensemble together he will post more pictures.

    Kilkenny Tartan

Here are some much better pics of the kilt...I didn't even have it on correctly in the above pictures (yeah it was me)

I'm still awaiting my matching flashes and 5 button vest...more to come at a later date. Next time I promise I'll iron my shirt and fix my tie, but I was in a hurry not to be late to piping lessons (I didn't wear the kilt).
