Kiltstore.net kilts
Hi. I'm a new member here, and am planning on purchasing a dress kilt in the next month or two. I already own a casual kilt (PV), and wanted to go full-out new wool for my dress kilt. I was curious as to the general quality of kilts from kiltstore.net. I have read several forums about shipping problems, but thought I would ask about their kilt/jacket quality. Thanks for the help!

Generally Kiltstore.net has a good rep here. The owner is also a forum member follow this link http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...ight=kiltstore The bad reviews were possible fo another company of similar name. Also check out USAkilts, you will see a link above. Welcome to xmarks from Southern Ontario, Canada.

KiltStore have made me three kilts and I have bought numerous accessories from them - currently awaiting delivery of two hand-knitted Aran Sweaters from them also - and I have nothing but praise for them. The quality of the merchandise is first rate and the service absolutely superb.
As at today's date I have not ordered any jackets from KiltStore, but I cannot believe they would be anything other than the best.
Don't forget: if you order via the link at the head of these pages, you receive not only a 10% discount but you also accrue points giving you money off future purchases!

I'm not sure how generous this is in reality, since their web page is always offering 10% her & 15% there. Makes me think their prices are fixed at at least 10% above what they expect to receive.
My kilt from the Kiltstore is of good quality, but it is a good thing I did not follow their employee's advice to order a shorter one.

I have just received my cornish national tartan kilt from them and I am very pleased with it.
However I am having an issue with them as I paid for special delivery for the kilt and when they swapped orders round to deliver some in stock items they failed to transfer the fee and sent them by special delivery instead claiming that I had asked them to do that which I hadn't. The kilt was then sent by free delivery and took much longer to arrive.
Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired and they don't read what you write. After two emails it still took a phone call to get them to deliver the in stock items.
Never mix in stock and out of stock items on the same order because they will sit on the in stock items waiting for the slowest out of stock item to appear. I have learnt that to my cost.
I am still arguing with them about the fee which would have been much less for special delivery of the items that were in stock and mized between two separate orders. It's not the money it's the principle and I won't rest until it has been sorted.

I have never dealt with them because of what just looks like shady dealing (not saying they are, just that things look hinky), and their prices are not good.
What I mean my shady is that their prices don't always line up. Click on 8 yard kilts, and you get a list of different 8 yard options. The one listed as their "featured" value says kilts from 327.17 (with the X-marks discount). Click that link and now it ways that the kilts start at 328.72 (with the x-marks discount). Now try and find a kilt that costs 328. It turns out that only kilts made with 13 oz fabric woven at Batli are that price, everything else in considerably higher.
What I mean by their prices are not good is just that. I bought a 5 yard machine made kilt from another online retailer just over a year ago. The price on kiltstore this morning $299.84. From the retailer I bought it from this morning $212.64 (on sale, regular price $236.27). $60 cheaper for the same kilt from another retailer (20% at the everyday prices). On the other hand I have heard their customer service is good (and in all honesty the company I bought from doens't respond to e-mails).

Welcome from Oregon.
Since you are from "this side of the pond", be sure to check USA kilts, and the Tartan Museum, as the shipping costs are significant from the UK.
Keep us posted on your progress and findings. Pictures are always welcome here too!

I just ordered a kilt, jacket and dress sporran from them. 3 day shipping was not bad at about $50.
