Would you wear a "Jacobite" shirt?

I have one of the "Jacobite" shirts with the laces
on the front and on the cuffs. I got it to wear with
my belted plaid at the local renn faire. The whole
getup looks pretty decent for that scene, but I
would never wear it with a kilt outside the faire.
It looks and feels too much like a costume.
(It is interesting though, that it is actually
not so bad when worn with pants.)

Other than this shirt, there is not too much
    I won't wear with a kilt that I wouldn't wear
otherwise. (Cowboy boots comes to mind.)

The belted plaid itself also seems like a
costume to me. The renn faire is the only
    place I ever wear it.

Does anyone else have this aversion, (or
something like it) or am I being a little
    too opinionated?

I believe there was another thread on this very subject recently. I have one, and I don't wear it terribly often. I, like you, wear it to the renn faire. I also wore it on Halloween, so I understand the costume thing. There are a couple guys in our Scottish country dance class that wear theirs evey week to the class. I think if I had one in a darker color, other than my white one, I'd find it more useful. Maybe that means I need to get a couple more!

Me, personally? Nah, the Jacobite shirt is not for me. I'd not scorn another for wearing one, though.

I wear mine at the Scottish festivals. Other than that, the only time I have worn it is when I wanted to put together a medieval costume. It worked good for that. I wouldn't wear it out and about.
It don't mean a thing, if you aint got that swing!!

I was wearing mine at Stirling Castle

It can look good in the right circumstances such as with a jacket.

I thought of buying one when I got my first Tartan Kilt, but my wife says that it looks funny. She's right.

I've always liked them but thought they were not for me -- until I bought one. I really like it. (It's a black one.) I've seen many folks in Scotland wearing them in Robertson's pictures. Don't recall seeing any being worn when I was there in January though but I don't recall kilts either other than the other XMarkers there.
