Kilted Canadian
Just a pair of pictures from this kilted Canadian (living in the U.S.).
This is me in my maple leaf tartan (16 oz.) with charcoal-grey tweed argyll kilt jacket, olive-green kilt hose (of my own creation), green oxford-cloth shirt and a green silk tie. Not a spectacular outfit, but not too shabby for a formal dinner out.
And this is a picture that all true hard-core Canucks will appreciate: me in the same Canadian tartan, with one of those infamous Hudson's Bay Company blankets over my shoulder. The colors clash almost garishly, unfortunately, but my fellow Canadians will know how these blankets are venerable symbols of the Canadian identity, going back to the time of the fur-trappers and les voyageurs. The blanket was a wedding gift from some relatives, who wanted a picture of it with me in my kilt.

Love the kilt, love the blanket. My Maple Leaf is on order and I just can't wait. The blanket however is out of my price range.

What a beautiful version of the Maple Leaf tartan! Cirthalion, you are looking pretty good to me - Ghillies laced a little high up the legs, but hey!
It is interesting to note how great the differences can be in one tartan from two different mills: I do not know the origin of yours, but mine is a Strome weight from Lochcarron and it is almost unrecognisably different:-
I must say, I really like the way the sett in your tartan is defined so clearly. Thank you for the photos and, from the south of England, welcome to 'X Marks'!
