I've seen this one a couple of times and have one question and a comment.
Comment: Who's the communications officer with the shockingly red hair? She's cute..in a comedic sort of way.
Queston: What the hell exactly are they saying at the end? I lose it after "Ah, gowan then..." Any translators out there?
Best

*Laughs* Chewin the fat is a airly popular comedy show here.
The Redhead is a regular on the show named Karen Dunbar. Sh has her own show too and, unfortunately, she's gay. Damn the luck.
A translation would be...
Aww go on, dinna talk pish.
Basically, 'Oh yeah? ********.'

Not particularly hilarious. I grew up in the deep south (US) and have had my accent and upbringing ridiculed all my life. This sort of blatent fun being make of the Scots annoys me beyond belief.
Since the southeastern United States is pretty much populated by Scots decendants then it's the same thing.
Sorry, but NOT funny.

Sorry you're offended. We're all entitled to our own tastes.
I guess since it was made by Scots (Chewin' the Fat - BBC Scotland), they decided it was acceptable humor.

I watched an episode of Chewin' the Fat when I was in Scotland.
It's simply the Scots having a humorous look at themselves by playing on local stereotypes. The episode I watched concentrated on the Glaswegians.

I have not seen this particular sketch before, but I have seen several episodes of "Chewin' the Fat". It is a Scottish comedy series which mainly pokes fun at (or takes the Mickey out of) everyday Scottish life - and can be VERY funny indeed. Their line of humour is very much in the style of the great Stanley Baxter.
As for not being able to understand all of it: we Brits often have the same problem when watching some of the American TV shows. Many leave me cold because I just cannot follow the oh-so-quickly-spoken, and frequently shouted, dialogue - and I know I am not alone in this.
"Chewin' the Fat" has been shown on nation-wide TV over here, but usually at a ridiculously late hour. Do look out for it though.
