    The Saltire Kilt

OK, by now I am sure that most of you have seen the pictures of this kilt:

So a couple of questions for the Rabble since I am very interested in it. First does anyone own one of these (I think Hamish does) and what do you think of it?

The reason I ask is it not a cheap kilt (granted it's a 16oz, 8yard tank) but from the sites I looked at it does not seem to be a custom kilt as they are only asking for waist and length, so I concerned about the cost for a kilt that might not fit well.

Second I think the Saltire illusion on the back looks great, but I'm unsure about the idea of sitting on my nations flag. Anyone have an opinion?

In America, you can find An American Flag thong underwear for women over 225 lbs or 100kg. compared to that sad sight, wearing the Saltire kilt will be an emblem of innocence. A pleasure to yourself, and an honor to the fraternity.

I don't own one, but I have seen one in person at a festival. It is fascinating to watch the pattern as the pleats move.

I confess that at this point I'm somewhat conflicted about whether or not I would have one, even though I think it's a beautiful kilt. There was a lengthy discussion some time back.

I remember that thread as well. I was against it as I recall...until I saw one at the Pleasanton Highland Games! It is really wonderful looking in person.

I would add it to my wish list but I fear the wrath of a Flame-Haired Celtic Amazon Goddess!

    Cheers

    Thumbs up

As I stated in the other thread. It is not an actual saltire, merely an optical illusion. It shows the cross only when pleated correctly. If you open the pleats it would not show a saltire. I am very leary regarding the wearing of a national flag as clothing, but since this is illusional it is IMHO not a national flag. Chef I say get the kilt if this is what you want, because I'm sure you will wear it with the utmost pride and respect.

I haven't had the pleasure of seeing it in person but the more I see it the more I like it as well.

I think that makes sense, thanks. So now I am left with the question of the quality of the kilt its self. It's too bloody expensive for an off the rack fit.

Oh man, I posted in the other Saltire kilt thread that I wasnt opposed to the kilt on the grounds that Ive seen enought stars and stripes bikinis to think wearing the nations flag wasnt a bad thing. I may have to retract my statement now do to the nasty mental picture I have because of this thread
