Few know that Titus Vestricius Spurinna was actually Cockney, and the proper translation was "Beware the HIDES of March," a warning not to have a sporran made from the green leathers that abounded during that time of year.
It was only a coincidence that Julius Caesar was victim of tyrannicide committed on the Ides of March, 44 BC. This, when coupled with Spurinna's 'abit of droppin' 'is "aitches" 'ither an' yon, led to the common misconception that he had warned Caesar.
Years later, all 'ell would break lose when a distant (and diminutive) descendent of the dictator offered two pizzas for the price of one... but that was yet another tale.

Hmmm I thought the Hides of March referred to all them pesky rabbit skin sporrans made from the hides of cwazy March hares.
