Highland Holiday 2006 #6
Even in July, Scotland can be a country of different moods. Don't expect the sun to be always shining as some of the following (July!) pictures show...
Ullapool Harbour after a thunderstorm which led to the cancellation of the Ullapool Town Pipe Band presentation "The Kilt is my Delight." Just my luck!
Looking across Loch Assynt to Ardvreck Castle.

Arvreck Castle against the moody mountains.
At Kylescu looking towards Glen Dubh.
"There are also opportunities from here (Kylescu) to take boat trips on the locally based Statesman to view the 650ft high Eas-Coul-Aulin waterfall, Britain's highest, and four times the height of the Niagara Falls. You can also catch a boat from here to view the remote Kerrachar Gardens at the seaward end of the loch. These are only accessible by boat."
The Statesman with some lucky passengers. Unfortunately because my friend Walter had to work in the evening, we decided there wasn't enough time to take the voyage - will make up for that next time!
The Kylescu Bridge, opened in 1984 by HM the Queen and replacing a previous ferry service. Before the bridge the road trip (avoiding the ferry) would have meant a 100 mile detour via Lairg.
The summit of Quinnag is hidden in the cloud near Kylescu.

McClef, your killing me! Very nice photos.... Is it next year yet?
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

Another excellent set of pics, Trefor.
Just the right time to post them with our 2007 tourist season kicking off this weekend.
Maybe Visit Scotland will offer you a job!
