    Just starting first Sgain

I mean it, I am just starting.

I have the handle routed and glue is drying,

the hilt is Madagasgar Ebony. and it will have a matching (in grain patern) ebony sheath. The pommel will be made from Nickel Silver. The blade is from atlanta cutlery, just a plain high-carbon steel. but I am excited this is my first Sgain, but my 4th bladed object, (made a couple of swords). I am also getting help from a professional knife maker on it.

Ebony is always a good choice. Good luck with it.

With the harder woods it may pay not to try carving. I personally like the understated shaped hilts which display the grain to it's best advantage. If you do want to carve it, try a dremel & an engraving bit.

Just be careful to minimise skin contact and especialy breathing of the fine dust that comes off the Ebony while its being worked.
