I previously posted this aerial view of St. Kentigern's Church at Irthington Village, underneath the flight path for Carlisle Airport. Let's take a closer look from the ground.
St.Kentigern's Church is a Norman building, erected in the twelfth century and has later Victorian Gothic additions, including a clocktower. The Church was thoroughly restored during the 1970's.
The Millenium Arch at the entrance to the church yard proudly proclaims that the church dates from 1169.
The Church Burial Ground
War Memorial to the parishoners of Irthington who fell in the Great War, 1914-18.
Finally a view of the south side of the church from which its Norman origins are more recognisable.
