Oh! Dear Delaware . . .
Just got back from a few days camping on the Delaware coast. We have a couple of foster kids and they had not seen the ocean. Great time.
But . . . I have never had such hostility to the kilt! I would say that over the years of kilt wearing, by far the majority of comments have been favorable. Either admiration or interest. Not this trip. As it was camping, I just took a black UK mocker. Great for what was needed. But, not a single positive comment. Eyes rolled by older women, little kids making fun. Fishermen joking about men in skirts.
So, someone on Xmarks give me something to restore my faith in the good folks of Deleware!

Well I have been through Delaware, but not in a kilt. Sorry there was such resistance, but I have one question for you, did you feel good wearing it cause really you can not make everyone happy, if you are happy, then you've got them all beat.

Where in DE were you, Andy? We'll be going to Dewey Beach in August, and I was wondering about kilt-wearing at the boardwalk in Rehobeth....

Let me know. I can introduce you around a few places. Used to work the restaurant trade down there. Boardwalk perhaps. WIll give it a try and let you know.
Sounds like Andy was at Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes. Only Perldog007 can get away with kilting in Lewes. It looks easy when I do it, but it ain't easy

Just south of Dewey in the Sea Shore State Park. Wore the kilt on the board walk. I would say, go for it Brian and let's hope my experience was just unusual!

Always feel good in kilts. I don't think you can be a kilt wearer if you are bothered what folk will say (or think). Just unused to the level of hostility!

First things first - Don't come down to the Delaware beaches during the summer (not enough restrooms near the beach ) try early October/Late September.
Second Delaware does not have the 49th lowest SAT scores by accident.
Third, my modern kilt wearing has been met with about the same but have had a few positive comments whilst big bad and plaid.
Wish I could restore your faith, but right now it is up to me and one other nutjob in Seaford De who braids his goatee because he is bald like me and braiding his goatee is the only way he can play braveheart.
We will have a kilt night in Delaware this summer. That means I will be going to Irish Eyes in Lewes and trying not to get the traditional Scottish Craaap kicked out of me.
