    The Kilted Path....

    Greetings everyone.

I haven't had much time to post here for the several months. It seems shifting cicumstances and priorities have a way of shuffling your life around from time to time. Such is way of things.

I have to admit that I'm impressed with the number of new members that have started actively posting in my absense. Forums continue to amaze me with their ability to connect relatively small and dispersed interest groups and give them a global voice. It's good to see that the voice here remains a strong one.

As for myself, I find myself wearing kilts rather infrequently as of late. It seems I've moved more towards the "special occasion" group. We all establish our own individual reasons for wearing kilts and prioritize same. I continue to advocate the tenet that there is no right or wrong to it and there is no black and white to it. Even so, misunderstood cultural and social conditioning continues to disuade more men from experiencing the kilted path. I count myself among the lucky ones.

Anyway, by this time next month, I'll be a grandfather. My wife and I are both looking forward to the arrival of the new family member. Current evidence predicts that this one will be wearing a little kilted skirt in future.

    I wish you all well.

    blu,

Thanks for the kind and interesting note.

I know what you mean about being a "special occasion wearer"; try as I might, I can't seem to develop a routine of kilt-wearing that goes beyond this. The combination of the heat where I live and the misunderstanding of my community has meant that I can effectively get away with kilts only at church and private parties. I'm hoping this will change soon, as I'm moving to colder climes shortly, but the habit may be fixed. Maybe I'll end up moving back and forth between being a routine and special-occasion wearer. I certainly agree with you that X-marks is a wonderful place for us to gather and share our views!

Congrats on your imminent grandfatherhood, and thanks again for your kind wishes and interesting thoughts.

I couldn't agree more Blu. It's whatever fits the individual at the time.

    Congrats on your pending arrival!

Absolutely agreed. I find myself wearing kilts less than I used to. A good portion of the time I can't, due to work. But, even on my weekends off, I find myself wearing them less. Just a current fancy. Just like I refuse to be restricted to one form of clothing, I won't restrict myself to another. "Conformity to Inconformity" if you will.

Good to hear from you. It is my understanding that the kilted path is one that can last your lifetime, my own kilted path has evolved from "Special Occassion Wear", to "Daily Wear." It is sure to change again, I need not be locked into if I feel I do not want to wear it today, it is after all my comfort that matters.

Congratulations on the upcoming addition to your family. I look forward to your future posts.

    Congradulations!

But won't you wait to see if it is a boy or girl to determine if you are a grand father or grandmother?

The kilt is a garment. I wear it when I wish and don't when I don't wish. There are always practical considerations. For example, I have a recumbent trike and would not wear it to ride the trike. On the other hand, I enjoy an opportunity when I must wear a kilt. At times my wife declares that I should wear a kilt which I always do. I've learned that if there is a question about wearing the kilt then I wear it. The few times I've decided otherwise I've regretted the choice not to wear one.
Our whole purpose as kilt wearers is to provide examples for other to follow. I hope that in the future men will be as free to wear a kilt as not to wear one.
