Grandfather Mt.
Here are a few pics from Grandfather Mt. Sometimes I feel like I miss out because I'm tied to the tent most of the time. Still, it was a great weekend and a few XMarkers made it.
One of the reasons I like to stay at the tent. (It was Friday so I went "Irish" with my Newsome Fitzsimmons kilt. Sorry you couldn't make it Matt!):

Eric Frasure made his pro debut and finished second overall. Not a bad start! Here he is in the new Fraser Hunting Sport Kilt:

A view Saturday evening from my lodgings on Beech Mt. See the deer?

Sorry I could not make it. I used to attend the Grandfather Mountain Games religiously each year until 5 years ago when we welcomed our daughter into the world that same weekend. I discovered then that the world would not stop turning if I missed Grandfather Mountain!
The Museum had six people volunteer to man our tent at the Games, and I trust they did a wonderful job. I hope some of you had the opportunity to stop by and say hi.
Here's what I did on Saturday instead. First we loaded up the family and went to Ashville to see the NC Wildlife Center:

(kind of like a zoo but with only native animals). They had a wonderful butterfly exhibit!
Then we stopped at a local park and had a birthday party/picnic lunch. Afterwards we stopped by the NC Arboretum (where my brother works as a horticulturalist):

It was a long, fun, and very full day. We returned home with some very worn out kids (and parents!) and spent Sunday relaxing.
So I can't really say I "missed" the Games, but it looks like you all had a great time!
