You can't beat a USA Kilts Casual model for...

This is my unabashed rave, rant and plug for the USA Kilts Casual model.

It's easy to take care of. You throw it in the washing machine. I hang-dry mine but you could machine dry it, no problem.

It's got a teflon coating so that "stuff" doesn't stick to it. I just got a big blob of pine pitch out of mine, and I bet the teflon is long gone, I've washed mine 6-8 times.

It's actually PLEATED....accurately, not "randomly" like some manufacturers do.. I've got a 48 inch rump and a 41 inch waist and mine has 15 semi-tapered, but accurately sewn "pleated-to-the-stripe" pleats. He doesn't taper the pleats above the fell exactly like how a traditional kilt is done, but what he does, *works*..

The pleats are sewn-down along the edge so they look at least reasonable ALL the time, even after a week of backpacking, and they look quite good when you iron the kilt. It's brain-dead easy to iron because of the sewn-down pleats. The fell is sewn down, like a "real" kilt.

The fabric is lightweight, and after a few washings gets very lightweight. It's great for a knockaround summer kilt. No, let me rephrase that. IT'S GREAT FOR A SUMMER KNOCKAROUND KILT.

The ONLY thing I wished I'd done differently is asked Rocky to make mine with bigger belt loops....oh, and put the belt loop that's over on the right on the body of the kilt rather than the over-apron. But that's small..eensy-weensy potatos, and he would've done just that if I'd asked him.

The price is more than reasonable for what you get, and it's nearly identical to the prices asked by some other kiltmakers offering similar products, some of which aren't pleated accurately at all, and have significantly fewer pleats. I've worn mine off and one for three years and it's still going strong,and I love it. If I didn't make all my own kilts these days, and if I wanted a lightweight kilt, I would be ALL OVER USA Kilts Casual Models.

Is it a tank? No. Will you fool people who know nothing about kilts into thinking it's a tank, if you iron it carefully and wear it with all the accessories? Possibly, maybe even probably. I have. However, do not buy Rocky's Casual Model if you want a serious dress-up kilt, buy the semi-traditional or get a custom kilt.. But if you want a tartan kilt in real tartans to wear "around", that looks good with a sporran.... If you want a lightweight kilt that's great when it gets hot outside...if you want a lightweight kilt that's worth every dime of what you pay for it....

Buy a USA Kilts Casual Model.

I did......three years ago, and I STILL swear by it.

I agree with everything you say. I just met Rocky last Friday when I was fortunate enough to be in the same city as his shop. Bought one kilt off-the-rack and ordered another. He's a wonderful guy with a great product. My only regret is that he doesn't have more variety of tartans to choose from.

One thing I'd like to mentin... we DO have THOUSANDS of tartans to offer in wool at much higher price points. In our Casual and Semi Traditional kilts, we're limited by the tartans that mills offer in Poly Viscose material, but we do try to keep 55 (and growing) tartans in stock at all times and we currently have THE MOST available IN STOCK tartans to choose from for ANY "low price" kilt company... sorry... didn't mean for that to sound "preachy" if it did.

Anyway... I had a good time talking to you last weekend and hope to see you again soon! Maybe you can make it out for a Kilt Night!

It was great meeting and talking with you Friday, and I absolutely love the kilt I got from you! Looking forward to getting the Clark kilt too. And my apologies for the complaint. It is certainly minor compared to everything else your product offers. And it's more that I wish there were more generic tartans. That's what I get, I guess, for being part of a minor clan / family. And I'm counting pennies to see about ordering a 5-yard in US Navy from you.

Rocky, I understand that you can only get the tartans that the Mills offer, so this is not a criticism. But if you could get the Poly Viscose in any tartan you wanted, your product would be unbeatable.

I am also a BIG FAN of USA KILTS , you just can't beat the quality of the product and the OUTSTANDING customer service!!!

I take them traveling because they look great and can take the rigors of traveling. Recently I dressed up my Army Tartan Semi-Trad w/ a PC and waistcoat and it worked wonderfully!!!

I have more than gotten money's worth out of all three of my USAK casuals. And, they still look as good as the day I got them. Wonderful.
