Kilted at NFL Cardinals Game
My brother and I went to the Cardinals Game last Saturday night in our kilts and Cardinals Jerseys (No digs on the cardinals needed, I know they stink, I still like them though) We've got to the game about 3-4 hours early so that we could do some tailgating and have some fun. My brother who is well on his way to becoming a Master Brewer (Recieved multiple gold, silver, and bronze metals for his homemade mead) brought a couple of homemade bottles of mead out with him.
When we first got there, we were getting pretty negative comments and stares from everyone, but we expected that, so it's ok. About about an hour or so of walking around and just talking to people, everyone started to warm up quite a bit.
We had front row seats in the Endzone, and at least 4-5 times during the game the cameraman was putting our pictures all over the big screen (I don't know if we were actually on the air at home, but we were on the screen at the game)
At one point during half time I went outside to have a cigarette and everyone out there was giving me the weird looks. When I finished my cigarette i started to walk back inside and someone yelled out "Nice Skirt you freak!" To which about 5 or 6 complete strangers yelled at that person "It's a freaking KILT, have some respect you idiot!"
This of course brought a big smile to my face, to have complete strangers sticking up for me in a place like that. I looked at them and thank them for their kinds words and just kept walking.
My brother and I had our picture taken later for the Game Program next week. I'll post a few pictures if they actually publish our pics.
I just wanted to share that story. Cheers!

Great story, thanks for sharing, Being from St Louis I know how you feel about your Cardinals, they sucked when they were here but my late father and I still rooted for them..

I've got tickets to 3 patriots games (i live 15 minutes from the stadium) and plan to go kilted to at least the home opener (the other 2 are at the end of december, and foxboro can be one of hte coldest places on the planet to watch football, so we'll see how the weather is then)

Good for you. I've often thought of getting a tartan kilt that approximates the colors of my beloved New York Jets. Not sure I've got the cajones to wear it to a game, though.

As we all know when we go places kilted we receive various reactions to what we wear, but normally it's overall a pretty good reaction. When I was at the football game, it was more like 50/50 on the reactions. I recieved "The Question" about 100 times that day, which is a new record for me. The best that we could do though is smile and keep walking. My girlfriend owns the season tickets that we used, so i'm hoping to go to a few more games this year (normally she goes with her brother) and hopefully by the end of the season, it'll become normal for them to see kilts at the football game.

That is really good work there. Think you might have had more positive reactions if you wore the kilt to a men's sporting event like mma, soccer, etc. instead of an NFL game.
