Whats the best place to get a Prince Charlie Jacket?
Whats the best place to get a Prince Charlie Jacket? Ive been looking a bit on line, and they pretty much seem to be around $300 to $400 US. Whos got the best bang for your buck though? Advanced Highland seems to have a special right now for like $170, hard to pass that up, but are they good quality jackets? I got a nice leather day sporran from them, the quality on the sporran is top notch, but hows their other products? Anyone know of a good place to get one?

For accountability reasons, I would contact Matt at the Scottish Tartan Museum or Rocky at USA Kilts.
I would trust either to be honest with you and deliver an EXCELLENT product.

If you have someone who can sew, buy a tail coat from a rental outlet and have one made. You'll get the coat for about $30.00, buttons for around $25.00 plus any tailoring charges. Do a search in the DIY section there have been several posts this year.

I can't add anything about the quality but the first thing that jumped to my mind was does that price include the vest (waist coat)?

Just by the wording of that add compared to others on the site that do include a vest, I'd check to make sure. No where in the add does it say the vest is included. While it does say "UK made Prince Charlie Jackets and vests." That sounds more like a general description of the product in general rather than what is included in the price.
This add specifically says the vest is included.

I'd just verify if you haven't already.

The Scotland Yard is a company I do business with that has a Time Payment Plan. You can order as much as you like, pay $75.00 up front, and pay $50.00 or more per month until the balance is paid. I have been shopping at this company for years, their customer service is second to none, and their product quality is outstanding. I have purchased several tanks from them and have found these kilts are custom-made, hand-sewn, and rugged - much better than the Pakistani-made, off the shelf, junk (for lack of a better word) that you see from many other companies. I have no doubt that their Prince Charlie Jacket is of the same high quality as the rest of their inventory.

Scottishkilt.net has a sale on jackets right now http://scottishkilts.net/
I have dealt with them several times in the past (dress sporran, jacket, 2 kilts, etc). The sale has limited sizes though.

If you are going to order online you might want to look at Cairngorm they are in Toronto, and are selling off their ex rental jackets. It may be worth a look.
