Lost My Housemate Last Night
I just want to let you know that I lost my housemate of 12 years last night. My cat Trouble died during the night. A very dear friend gave him to me.
He seemed fine the last few days, but last night he barely made it up the stairs and later in the evening it seemed like he lost control of his movements. I was going to take him to the vet this morning, but it was too late. I'm not sure what happened to him. He may have gotten into something he shouldn't, but I'll probably never know.
I live in town, so I took him to the vet anyway for his final disposition.
I'll miss him reminding me about his breakfast every morning.

I can truly sympathize with you, Dave. I have a companion of my own who's 18-1/2 and in late stage renal failure. I almost had to put her to sleep last night, but the vet gave some medications and fluids. It's only a matter of time, though. ![Crying or Very sad](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_cry.gif)
You'll both be in my thoughts.

For many of us the loss of a pet is the loss of a family member - our family will hold you in our hearts.

My condolences on the loss of Trouble. I currently have 11 and I've buried at least that many this past twenty years. Taking them to the vet and finding that they must be put down is never easy. In his last act Trouble has perhaps made it a little bit easier by taking this hard decision out of your hands. Again, you have my sympathy.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. Especially since Trouble seemed to be a reason to get up in the morning. I'm sure there were wonderful times when he was so aptly named...perhaps the morning after a kilt night. All of our little furry, feathered, and finned family members have such unique personalities. I'm sure Trouble brought you great joy. I hope you can continue to remember him that way.

Missing Trouble
Dave,
I know your pain. You have my sympathies. My wife Sharon who is a cat rescuer and I will keep you in our hearts and prayers. Seven years ago when I took my cat, BC to the vet to cross the rainbow bridge, the vet tech was kind to us as I saw BC cross over.
She is now my wife.

Dude, I have been there and offer my condolences. I lost Susan and Cypress (see photo on my Avatar) three years ago within three months of each other. Susan was 14 and was my foster son's first pet. After she died of cancer, we adopted two puppies (knowing that Cypress at 12 was dying of renal failure).
