    Voting Kilted

Tomorrow is the day Australia votes in the Federal elections. I've voted before while kilted, but this time one of the parties (Family First) has asked me to help out at the Polling Station.

I'm not sure if the candidate who invited me to do this actually knows I wear a kilt all the time, so...it will be interesting!

I hope your candidate wins - surely if he has the backing of one kilted, he has a leg-up...

Politically speaking, I know we range from left and right with most in the middle. But I wonder what a true kilted political cause would be?

Sure we should all be for any measure that promotes Freedom and Comfort, but is there any one issue that all true kilted could and would get behind?

I think we need a National Scurvey Awareness Week. I'd vote for that. Or maybe a Ride Your Llama To Work Day. Llamas have nice soft wool, after all.

    The Kilted Coalition's election platform:
    1. Tax-breaks to kilt wearers
    2. Strengthen the Dollar against the Pound
    3. Tarrifs on Pakistani goods that would be used to subsidize the higher costs of Scottish goods.
    4. Programs to increase wool-production nationwide
    5. Grants for North American Textile firms weaving genuine tartans
    6. Universal right to wear a sgian dubh
    7. Updated labor laws that prevent the banning/discrimination of the kilt in public schools and in the work place.
    8. Haggis as the national dish??

As for voting kilted, I almost did that recently; however I don't have a Scottish last name and was afraid of having to discuss that too thoroughly with the people I get the ballot from. Not that it mattered anyway, since a lack of challengers meant that literally 0 people on my ballot ran opposed, not that I'm bitter or anything. (Stephen Colbert tied for first place for one office with 3 votes). There were no choices, and people wonder why young people don't vote. Sorry for the off-topic ending; I wouldn't consider it political either, just depressing.

Hmm. May have some problems with that one.

I have gone to the polls to vote while kilted, always good for a conversation. It will be much more interesting when we move in the New Year...not sure how many people in the small town we're moving to have ever seen a kilt.

Have a good time, I voted kilted at the last election here and got nothing but positive responses from all the people there.
