Put yourself on the Map!
Rabble,
In light of Ron's (Riverkilt) post about assessing remote kilties, I thought I'd make a seperate post to remind everyone that there IS an XMTS Frappr map. A short time ago I was given the duties, and title, of tending to it. (Hence the "Kilted Cartographer" title, and "Map Campain Ribbon" next to my name.)
So, for those of you who haven't done so, please take a few moments to sign yourselves up. The map can be found here. And, there is always the link in my signature as well.

Sorry, can't make any sense of it.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

There's an orange button that says "join" at the top of the map itself. You should be able to click that and enter in your info. I'm seeing the problem with the map image too. Not sure what the deal is with that. It seems their server's a little busy or something...

I've never had success using that map. It takes too long to paint, refresh and resize. If I want to know where someone is, I usually look for that information in their profile, if it's there at all.
If I recall, last year there was a small, but reasonably successful, campaign to encourage everyone to update his or her profile to include location information. I think Hamish requested it. I found the results of that to be most satisfactory.

At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.

Rex,
The point of the map is also to have an overview look at the dispersion of everyone. If you want to know where someone in particular is, then your method is by far a better route. But, if you wanted to look at a particular are and see who was there, the map is a more effective route.
