Answer to "Why the Kilt?"

I was thinking recently, that if trousers were really developed for those who ride horseback, that gives rise to a new answer when someone wants to know why you're wearing a kilt.

Simply answer, "I'm not riding any horses today."

I had a distant cousin who lost a leg in the Great War and who hunted side-saddle until his death in the 1970s. Of course there's no more hunting in Scotland anymore... more's the pity.
