Jacket bargins at Target
Hi all,
I just got back from Target and wanted to note that those looking for a blazer or sport coat to convert into a kilt jacket might want to check out their clearance racks. I saw several coats that might do the trick (and many of them for under $20).
I purchased a wool tweed overcoat (trenchcoat style) that I think will work well with a kilt. Somehow it being tweed makes it seem a lot less flasher-like and more akin to an Inverness cloak.
I'll post a picture of the overcoat after sewing a few buttons.
Cheers

Jamie, I'm looking forward to seeing the pics of the overcoat. I don't know if you saw my recent thread and pic. I think a tweed overcoat with a kilt is a good option. Seems to "fit," though not all agree.

Andy,
I had forgotten about reading your thread until you mentioned it. I'm sure it was the reason I stopped and took a look at them.
Here is the jacket. Not too bad for $19.88

I also posted the pictures on your thread
Cheers

Stopped at my target tonight based on this thread. While tweed jackets were on sale, sadly no long ones (or any long coats of any kind) were available.

Adam,
Sorry. They might sell much better in Cincinnati than San Jose, these were marked down 75%!
Cheers

Jamie I have heard, but never understood the need to color coordinate everything, what can I say I have a stunted fashion sense. However I think it is a little extreme to have to coordinate the dog's leash and the kilt. It there a problem with the kilted fashion police if the leash clashes with the kilt?
You coat and outfit look fantastic, the coat does set it off well.

As long as he doesn't put a matching kilt on the dog it's okay.

It's simply taking fashion to that next level. It isn't a question of simply matching the leash to the kilt, but coordinating the leash, the kilt outfit , AND the dog to create a pleasing ensemble.

I rest my case.
