Whisky in the states?
I tried to post this in The Pub but I always have trouble logging in there, so I am being lazy.
I have coeliac disease so I can't have gluten. I am about to get serious about making sure I don't gluten myself so that means no beer.
Now, if I can't have beer I drink good Whisky.
Here's my problem... where and how to get it in the states.
I know I can go to the liqor store and get some of the more common ones,
but say I am having a hankering for a nice Ardbeg 1994, what do I do?
I'm planning on joining the SMWA when I am settled and have the funds, but in the meantime do I just settle for what I can get?
Thanks for any and all advice.

When I moved back from Ireland last May I brought with me several bottles of my favorite tipple. I then discoved that (1) with a little digging I could get it here in the USA, and (2) it was cheaper here than at home! Oh, and when someone coming for a visit asks, "Can I bring you anything?"
"Well, besides a box a Shreddies, a bottle of X, would be nice." is my immediate reply.

Arlen,
I don't know much about whisky, but there is gluten-free beer available in the US. Here's a link to a UK festival to get you started, I know lots of homebrewers locally make it, with varying results, but it might be worth some exploration.

Can't really comment on Whiskies, I only ever drink a couple of brands... But on the beer, Isn't there a company called Greens that offers wheat free beers in the UK? I know Budwiser has a sorghum based beer here, I've tried it, it wasn't any worse than their regular crap.

Arlen I'm surprised that they don't have potato based beer in Idaho!

Be glad you aren't moving to Virginia. All of the liquor stores are state owned.

As here in Ontario. Beer is bought at Brewer's Retail (the Beer Store) that is owned by the large breweries. Nothing in your corner store although some grocery stores sell wine, the only independant liquor sales. Seems to work we can now buy booze until 11pm and on Sunday's. And to think we used to supply Al Capone with his wares.
