    Inverness Cloak (Empire Canvas Works Pattern)

    There had been a bit of discussion about Inverness Cloaks a short while ago and Kevin Kinney generously offered to sell his pattern for the model that Empire Canvas Works makes:

    http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/i...x.html?t=33867

    Member in good standing of the Nor Cal Rabble and “occasional” kilt and sporran maker way2fractious took Kevin up on his offer. Wearing a size 38 jacket he purchased a medium pattern and once he had received it set to work using a Russian-woven polyblend, in a classy blue-black hounds tooth and a purple/black polyester taffeta for the liner.

    When he had finished and put it on he realized that it was too large for him. He contacted Kevin to order another pattern in a small size and being a gentleman asked if he could try to sell the first one. Kevin was comfortable with w2f selling this one cloak and thus w2f offered it to the members of the Nor Cal Rabble first by PM.

    I have the great pleasure of owning a kilt and sporran made by way2fractious, so the question wasn’t whether I wanted the cloak or not, simply if it was my size..

    I had the opportunity to see the cloak at our last Kilt Night

    http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/l...x.html?t=35152

    It was quite handsome though made of much lighter material than the oiled canvas Inverness Cloak from Empire Canvas Works (walkerk has one and those who call 8 yard kilts “tanks” have never seen one Kevin’s cloaks -They are bullet proof!). I wear a 40-42 jacket and the cloak fit perfectly.

    I was only too happy to buy it from way2fractious.

    Here are a few pictures:

    Front

    Back

    Front Pocket Detail (and strange seamless leather coin pouch that came with the cloak!)

    Ticket Pocket

    "Sleeve" Detail

    I will leave it up to way2fractious to review the Empire Canvas Works pattern. I am utterly delighted by this cloak and would like to give kudos to Kevin for designing it and w2f for doing such a grand job making it.

    To The Back Cave!

    Cheers

    Jamie

    Very nice. Another job well done by W2F. Two questions not quite related;

    1) How come the sporran didn't move in the last action shot? Is it stapled to the kilt?

    2) How on earth can you make a perfectly shaped leather coin purse without seams?

    OK that was three questions.

    (1b) Mr. Stapler should not be used to ever affix clothing (or anything else) to any part of our bodies. This is not what Mr. Stapler was made for. This would be a very bad thing! You would not be allowed to use Mr. Stapler again and would have to go back using paste!

    Wow!

    That looks outstanding!

    He's hired.

    If it didn't look so warm and pleasant in Panache's yard, I'd have him shoot my whole catalog.

    You have accurately identified the "problem" the Nor-Cal Rabble has to wrestle with continually - Not one of us can compete for the rabble lairdship because none can pull off the sartorial miracles as can Panache. It's as if tribute has to be paid...

    {... but he's just so darn cute!}

    So...

    Haven't you figured out by now that Jamie doesn't actually wear kilts? Its all done with blue screen and computer generated special effects. (The F-H.A.C.G. doesn't really exist either, but you probably guessed that one your own. I mean seriously. . .)

    2) How on earth can you make a perfectly shaped leather coin purse without seams?

    Some poor Kangaroo gave his all for that pouch.

    OK that was three questions.
    Sorry to have to disillusion you.

    Best regards,

    Jake

    Looks great Jamie. Oddly enough i get more comments on my Inverness than i do on my kilt. I wonder if you will get the same experience.
