Wish me luck ......
Well, I am fairly new to the kilt, though I have manged to acquire 7 so far. Mostly I have worn them for casual and day to day wear. A couple of times for formal occasions, but tomorrow I take the scary (for me) step.
You see I teach High School Science (Biology and Earth Science) in a Continuation High School (about 90% of our students have Probation Officers) in a predominately Latino (99%) neighborhood.
Tomorrow, for St. Patrick's Day I'm wearing my SWK Irish National Standard.
The reaction of my students should be very interesting.
Keep your fingers crossed for me,
Marshal Moroni

I wish you well. Hopefully it will entice positive reactions, and maybe a chance for the students to learn something new.

Well done. I imagine some of the students will surprise you--in a nice way. I have found after the third time in a kilt, the kids don't even notice, except to compliment me. Enjoy your day.

OK - Good Luck - But with the proper attitude, I don't think you will need luck, good or bad. Just be yourself and enjoy the day!

Hey MM,
You'll be fine. I work with criminal justice clients every day...juvie, adult, probation, parole, diversion, pretrial. Am often kilted. Never been an issue in the group/classroom setting. Even over at the high school in the "bad kids class." Even in our local jail. Not an issue.
Most I've gotten is a serious question cause they wanna know, and a lot of positive comments from the young tough guys in the halls. They know true juevos when they see them.
You'll be fine and they'll probably appreciate the variety in their day.
