    Scottish Regiment in Victoria

I put in an application to the Canadian Forces recently and stopped in to set up an appointment for some testing. The guy that served me was kilted. I'm presuming that its an option to wear as part of your uniform. I asked him about it (I was wearing mine at the time) and he told me that it is only optional in Scottish Regiments, and there is one in Victoria. Anyway I thought that was pretty sweet, that I could get to wear a kilt at work potentially. I can't at my job right now.

And all it takes is joining the army?

Good luck getting your choice of assignment!

    Princess Mary's Own...

That would most likely be the Canadian Scottish Regiment (Princess Mary's):

We have a member of Xmarks who served with them, btw.

Cajunscot is correct, jkruger. The C Scot R is a reserve regiment, and it is likely that the person you saw was a member; I was in it over 35 years ago. We wore our kilts for our parades at the Bay Street Armoury and other events, but not for training, etc. Good luck with your application!

jkruger, did you apply for REGF or RES? and what position? if for regf you have no control over your assignments if for res you have to decide were you want to serve and go ant talk directly to recruiter in the unit you have chosen. It's not just the right way to do so, but also will give a push to the process and save you allot of time. We have at least two SR reserve units I remember of: The Gow Deeks- Vancouver and Can Scots -Victoria.
And good luck with your application.

    Hi!
I've been looking at Canadian Highland regiments and have messaged with McMurdo. He tells me that the 48th is active duty. I believe they're around Toronto.

It's always been my understanding that all of the Canadian Scottish regiments are reserve units; if you look at the official web site of the 48th Highlanders, it states:

"The 48th Highlanders of Canada is a primary reserve infantry unit based in Toronto."
