    Smile Non-Clan Tartans

I had an interesting experince today. We went to the Highland Gathering at Bundanoon (Bundanoon is Brigadoon). I chose to wear my "Heritage of Scotland" kilt, with black Ghillie shirt, belt, black leather Rob Roy sporran and bushwalking boots. A fine casual look.

What got me was the amount of people coming up and asking "what is that tartan?" as they liked the look of it. I guess most kilt wearers in OZ wear clan associated tartans so its just different. My Buchanan is different also as its much brighter than most tartans, but it's never got this much attention.

Has anyone else experienced this sort of thing because you were wearing a certain tartan?

    Highlights of the day:
    Archie (a friends Scottish Deerhound),
Chris Duncan and Bob McInnes (Scottish fiddlers),
Haggis Neeps an Tatties for brunch,
    Black Pudding for lunch.

People ask me which tartan is my kilt ALL the time. And it's their first question MOST of the time !

Recently I got my Royal Naval Tartan kilt from Barb Tewksbury, people are always asking me what tartan it is, as I think it is extremely rare, in fact I think mine might be the first in North America, perhaps I should look into that. last night I was out at a pub with a couple friends and one woman asked about it when I told her it was the RNA tartan she began to tell me about her father who was in the Royal Navy, it was a good wee chat.

Yep, when I wear a tartan kilt that's usually the first question. BTW I think the Buchannan tartan is one of the most handsome of all tartans!
