Shoulder bags?
Hello all,
As the warm weather approaches, I'm hoping to spend more time afield with this fellow:

That means carrying a load of kid-related stuff, food, and such. I doubt that my daily load would fit in a sporran, so I pose the following question:
Is there a traditional shoulder bag that goes well with a kilt?
Cheers,
Kevin, and shorter people....

I would say find a nice leather messanger bag that kinda matchs your sporran. Or if is a canvas there are all kinds of messanger bags.

Personally, I'd consider a small backpack.
I mean, let's face, we're already wearing a garment that many consider to be a "skirt," so personally, I'd avoid carrying stuff in something that looks like a "purse" such as a messenger bag. But, maybe that's just me...
Lucky you! Looks like you've got yourself a fine little companion there. I'm sure you two are going to have a lot of fun together!
.
Happiness? I'd settle for being less annoyed!!!

I really like the "counterfeit mailbag" from J. Peterman. It's expensive, but the stuff I've gotten from J Peterman over the years has proven to be extremely well made and quite bombproof. The mailbag is basically a messenger bag made out of belting leather.

messenger bags
Another OUTSTANDING option is Tumbuk2 http://www.timbuk2.com/tb2/products/home;
-lots of sizes and options
-lots of color options
-tough as nails; I have carried 1 [the same one ] on a daily basis to work for over 8 years
-outstanding value for the price.
You already have the confidence to wear a kilt on a regular basis, a large bag should not be an issue, particularly one with as much "street cred" as a messenger bag.

This one is nice, but I'd take off the handle.

I've actually been really wanting a messenger bag. It wouldn't really be for use while kilted though. I spend most of my time in pants, as my job requires legs fully covered (that includes my tattooed knee caps ) But, I could really use a messenger bag to tote around my daily "stuff" "book, gadgets etc." My wife is worried it will look like a purse, to which I relpied "but honey, I DO wear a purse!" haha.
