    Kilted in I.C.U.

It's a bad news / good news situation.

The bad news is that my best friend from high school was in a terrible traffic accident last week, and is recovering from his injuries and several surgeries in Massachusetts General. I drove out to see him this weekend, and between trauma, sedatives and painkillers, there's not much of him responding at the moment. I believe his condition is still critical, after nearly a full week.

So that's the bad news. The good news is my Utilikilt was a hit in the I.C.U. I was visiting and trying to get a response out of him when a flawlessly put-together nurse from, I believe, India (whose name I later learned is Diamond) stopped in, saying, "I had to tell you, all of us on the staff love the kilt think you look terrific in it."

Naturally, before I left, my friend's wife got a "prom picture" of the two of us.

I wish the best for your buddy.
Keep wearing the kilt. As someone who works in a hospital, I can tell you the repoire you build with the floor staff will only serve to benefit your buddy in the ICU.

    Keith

    Ugly Bear,
My prayers are for your friend. He is fortunately in one of the worlds finest medical facilities. The General is made up of top notch medical professionals from around the world.
Welcome to Boston, Massachusetts. A very kilt friendly city. I am kilted most of the time here and practically live on the "T". A swish of the pleats brings em every time, whether on a tartan kilt or a self colour Utilikilt.

I wish your friend a full and speedy recovery, the last time I was in a hospital, I was kilted, the staff really semed to like it. One doctor told me he had seen a kilt the day before and commented on how happy he was to see them gaining popularity. It was also a great way to break the ice with many others in the hospital.
