My boy is a GAEL!!!
Last evening the family took a walk across town to the weekly practice of the Kanawha Valley Pipes & Drums. The Wife is enthused about learning the pipes. She attended last week.
We were welcomed and I was invited to become a drummer. They're a diverse group of folks.
The PM was practicing by himself outside. Every time he paused, Seamus squawked. While he played, the lad was quiet.
As the PM went on to tune the band, the boy remained happy. The sound was LOUD, but he was fine. The snap of the drum at a few feet did not cause so much as an infant's flinch.
As practice progressed we enjoyed being present and we had a good time. We're really looking forward to Bridgeport!
Yep, my boy likes the pipes at five months old! Wife is getting a chanter next month.

Oh yes! Nearly forgot!
I was in my UK in Mossy Oak (WV's unofficial state tartan). Only one member was kilted and she had just received her BW. I turned on a guy to UKs! Next I'll get one or more onto here!

That reminds me so much of my first memories of going to games with my parents. The pipe bands made me happy, and the marching bands scared me... My dad likes to remind us that when we were little and we were at a parade, my brother and I would stand when a pipe band would march by playing "Scotland the Brave," but we cried when a marching band played the national anthem...
If your son wants a kilt, GET HIM ONE!!! I would have been kilted about 15 years ago if my parents had been willing to buy me one.
Enjoy the times you spend celebrating your heritage as a family. I assure you, your son will remember those times later in life.

Maybe it's just that he couldn't be heard above the pipes...
