    2 straps vs 3 straps

Why are there kilts with 2 straps and some with three???
My tank has 2, but my old one had three. I found that that I'm more comfortable with two. Why put three?? Is it to adjust the apron so it looks better or simply a way to make sure it always falls nicely with a big belly??

Just curious (and frankly, you guys know more than me...;o)
