size +/- and lots of other questions on SWK

    Hello all

How much adjustment +/- is there in the economy style, as they are currently out of my 32" size in the tartan I want. Also, is the thrifty and economy essentially the same except for straps? Same material and weight?
What are the chances of them getting my size in, in current tartans, or will they just get a bunch of new kilts, in all sizes, in new tartans? How does the inventory work at SWK? Would love to see firefighters and/or American Heritage.

    Thanks all

    Eric

I wear a size 32 pant and a size 32 SWK. That's the largest buckle on the 32 SWK. That compares to my traditional kilts: Waist 32/Hips 34/Length 22,24 (one is longer).

Where do you usually wear your kilt? on your hips like jeans or at the natural waist?

It is only coincidental that my waist is the same as a pants size. If you string a measuring tape around the belt loops of your jeans, you get a different number than the '32' on the label.
I think that this demonstrates both how the measurements on pants aren't accurate, and how slim some guys are.

With the thrifties -if they don't have your size - go larger! The velcro lets you re-position the apron and gives a better look than trying to go smaller. I use the thrifties for my really knock-around get dirty doing stuff kilts.

I was facing the exactsame situation a few days ago. I usually wear a size 32 kilt. Jerry didn't have a size 32 heavyweight in the tartan I wanted, so I measured myself, and figured I'd take a chance and order a 34... I'm glad I did. It arrived today, and it fits better than some of my 32s. If it doesn't fit quite right, you can always move the straps an inch or two.

I don't think you'll be seeing either of those tartans as I believe USA Kilts created them and is the only place to get them? Unless, of course, there's another firefighter tartan out there... Maybe someone else can elaborate.

    I believe you're right.

Also, Check SWK's ebay store. Sometimes they've got stuff up there that might differ from their web store.

Kelly created the Firefighter's Memorial tartan, had it registered and, it is only available through them. BTW, it is a beautiful tartan (sorry, I guess I love it because of my profession :mrgreen.

However, there is another Firefighter's tartan. This one is also registered with the STA and, the ITI# is 6684. Not sure if its something SWK would consider carrying though?

As for the American Heritage, its the same as the FF's Memorial. Its only available from USA Kilts.

I just recieved my first SWK Standard in the mail, and it's a size 38, and I'm a pants size 36. Now judging how it fits I probably coulda gone with a 36 in the kilt, but the buckles fit great at the tighest or second tightest holes, which would give me plenty of room to put on shirts under it or something, so I think maybe going a size bigger in an SWK wouldn't kill ya, it would probably work out swimmingly.
