    Sporran cantle top latch

I was over at the Ligonier Highland Festival in Ligonier, Pennsylvania over the week end and I saw a formal (evening) sporran that had a functioning latch on the cantle. The latch was spring loaded and retracted by pulling up on the "top" latch button. Most of the ones I have examined in preparation for constructing an evening sporran have a snap enclosure that fastens behind the top of the cantle on the leather back piece of the sporran. Can anyone direct me to where I can find detailed photos or diagram/drawings (or both) of a spring loaded cantle latch. Thanks in advance.

I'd be interested myownself...if such a a wee beastie still existed. I think these were pretty common when lady's evening bags were more common--they were often constructed with a beaded bag and a metal cantle (much like a sporran). Maybe the maker salvaged the catch from an old purse?

But I'd be surprised (and very happy) if there were enough demand for such a thing to make the manufacture feasible.

    I'll be watching this thread.

I had been thinking of using the now ubiquitous magnet catch when I get around to trying this, but I was going to try to duplicate the braided leather cantles I've seen on other threads.

With all the knowledge that abounds on this board
I can't believe the lack of information on this subject
someone must have a diagram or plans for this type of sporran catch
