There's been a fair amount of discussion about DIY jackets here, and consensus seems to be that unless you are a skilled tailor (see Kevin Kinney's threads for examples), you will be better off finding a suitable jacket and converting it. Lots of threads on conversions for guidance, just search or look at the one "stuck" at the top of DIY forum.

    Good luck and have fun!

I'm not a tailor. I just play one on TV.

Having an Argyle, I can see that it's very specialized tailoring and would not be for the faint of heart...those members who have successfully modified sport coats into kilt jackets have my admiration; I would, however, be in total awe of anyone who could whip up an Argyle Jacket from scratch.

There is a pattern available out there...it turns up on ebay once in a while but there are a couple of websites where it's available.

    Best or luck.
