Animal skull question...

Has anyone ever seen (pics or in person) or know of anyone who makes sporrans with animal skulls instead of full mask?

With the plethora of various styles and designs out there, I would imagine someone may have tried this at some point... mind you, I know nothing about taxidermy or the like so I've no clue if it's even possible.

I don't know about that... But a fur sporran with mouse skulls decorating the ends of the tassels would look totally badass!

real skulls might be too fragile
but you can buy realistic fake skulls
made of polymer

I have been considering(way down the list) a full mask Coyote with Magpie head tassels, invoking the totemic power of two tricksters for native lore. As Ted says though, I think I would make the heads of foam with a resin covering for strength. I have no copyright or trademark on the idea, feel free to steal it.

People already think I'm off my rocker -- if I start attaching remains of dead animals and skulls and whatnot to my clothing, a well-meaning friend or relative will have me hauled away... And it's tough to get online while confined to a straight jacket and medicated. You gotta type with your nose and drool gets in between the keyboard keys...

Actually you can type with your toes. That way no drool gets into the keyboard.

For the full mask sporran, avoid the endangered species, such as the brindled haggis of Mull, or the wild nauga of Wisconsin.

I don't think skulls would be a good idea on a sporran...

I have made ceramic skulls as well as, studied real skulls and skeletons as models for my work. They can be artful, but not in this way, unless you are making a costume.

I don't know about using bone on a sporran; perhaps carved or scrimshawed bone...

Perhaps it's just me, but I find full mask sporrans (especially with the mouth open) to be a bite more creepy than the idea of a simple skull.

I would think that a skull would push the look too far forward and make the sporran look more like a codpiece.
