    My first Tank

When ordering your first Tank I feel that it is almost a necessity to see your kilt maker to be properly fitted and to see his work firsthand. So, this weekend I went to Kansas City, Missouri to see Chattan Cat, his wife and their cats.

I arrived around 1730 and by 1800 with a beer in hand the kilt fitting began in the kilting room. I was also fortunate to see Cool Bobs kilt in the works and see the pleating process and how the yardage is transformed from bulk material into a wearable kilt.

Chattan Cat’s wife is an expert in the kitchen and the meals that were prepared during my stay were outstanding.

I made my choice of MacIver Modern tartan in honor of my deceased uncle Michael McIver who was such a great mentor for me and taught me so much. I have ordered a Scottish Clan History sheet from the Scottish Tartan Museum and will have the swatch from Lochcarron of Scotland framed to give to my aunt for her birthday.

I also traded a brown leather belt that is too big for me for Chattan Cat’s services of modifying my wool sportscoat.

Saturday we did some holiday shopping and Chattan Cat and I were kilted and when all was finished we headed to a local bar and we all had a round of beer.

    And here are the cats!

Congrats on the new kilt and the excitement of waiting for it to be be completed!

You know, I must hang around with the wrong people...as many times as I've had various fittings for various clothing over the years (usually dresses for proms, weddings, etc.), nobody has ever given me beer!

    Congratulations.

Having the tartan and history sheet framed is a nice way to honor the memory of your uncle.

This would be us at the Irish Pub.

Now why are there Irish pubs but I have not seen a Scottish pub?

Congratulations on the new kilt, I'm sure it will be the jewel of your collection, I can tell you're not in the legion, either that or both bought a round for the entire place.

I am not concerned with the waiting; I am a very patient person. In fact the money for the kilt was from a custom large scale train that I had purchased back in 2003 but the gentleman’s wife had developed cancer and then died. I told him to take his time but he kept saying it would arrive and it never did, so after almost six years I lost my patience.
