Anyone want to go halfsies? (county cavan)

I really like the County Cavan tartan here.

I'm only wanting a 4yd box pleat, though. I didn't know if anyone would be interested in splitting the cost of the material + shipping and get 4 yards each, or if someone would want to cover the price and I could make them a 4 yd box pleat with the other half as well.

Let me know if you might be interested.

    Hi Chase,

Just a personal observation on something that you might want to consider. 14 oz tartan is on the light side for a box pleated kilt - not too light, but, if you haven't made one in 14 oz, yu might want at least to think about this. It doesn't matter much for an 8 yard knife pleated kilt whether it's 14 or 16 oz, but there's not much tartan in a 4 yard kilt, and a box pleated kilt benefits from the "oomph" that 16 or even 18 oz tartan gives. Just a thought before you buy!

That is also double-width, enough to do two 8-yard kilts or 4 4-yards.

It's 3.7 meters/4 yards double width. Not 8yds double width. The title gives the single width length.

It is good quality fabric, at least the MacPherson I got form the same seller was. Barb's advice on the fabric weight for a box pleat is good. I have four yard box pleats in several fabrics and weights. 16 and 18 oz wool are the nicest of them, and 20 or 22 oz fabric would be really nice for colder weather.

For summer wear when it's hot and humid, if it wasn't real windy, 14 oz would be grand !

I have one I made myself from a tweed that is only about 12 oz per yard, and it is really too light if there is much of a breeze.
