Scottish Cable Knit Sweater with PC

While not new to kilting, I am new to the Price Charlie. Would it be appropriate to wear a cream-colored Scottish wool (cable knit) sweater with a Prince Charlie jacket, without waistcoat? I know it would dress-down the formality of the outfit, but have any of you worldly lads seen this?

With an Argyle perhaps but probably not with a Prince Charlie. The sweater would likely show beneath the waist of the PC among other things.

I meant it to be certainly tucked, but no I wouldn't wear it with my tux. So I guess that answers that. Thanks for the quick responses.

Here's a quick way to figure it out for most Prince Charlie related stuff:
Would you do it with a tuxedo jacket at a formal event?

No go with the PC.. The PC is black-tie only. No "dressing down" of the PC is really that appropriate. This is one of the reasons I don't have one, I just have an argyle and waistcoat. The argyle is much more adaptable.

Never with the PC, as has been stated you would not do that with a tuxedo so don't even think about it.

Gah, you beat me to it.

That's why I rarely post a picture for fear it will end up a 'Don't'.
