The Texas Scottish Festival - June 5-7

The Texas Scottish Festival will be held in Maverick Stadium in Arlington, Texas (between Dallas and Ft. Worth) the weekend of June 5 through 7. This is the place to be for a clan gathering and great modern Celtic music. BTW, the scotch tasting can be quite fun, albeit a bit hurried.

I am joining Jerry McIntyre in his tent to help host. I intend to bring water and a flask, so you're all welcome to that as long as it lasts.

    Here's the webby:

I suppose 'blue' takes on a double meaning in that regard, doesn't it?

LOL. You should try piping in Arizona in August. I heard the games in Arlington were one of the best in the country? I'll be there with the pipe band.

It depends on whether you like to compete for only sanctioned events or not. It's not. It's large! It has great modern Celtic music, a big clan gathering, and lots of vendors.

Our PM said it was not a band competition. Only non-sanctioned solo. Does that sound right? If it's so big, why not sanctioned band & solo piping? Probably money.

Money is right. Ray McD, the salaried president, is interested in what helps make the event profitable. There's nothing wrong with that, but it doesn't do much for promoting sanctioned competitions in Texas. There are not enough of them.

Yes, there are only solo piping competitions (non-sanctioned).

Have fun, medic! (and tell Duncan and everyone Christopher and Cynthia said "hi")

*sniffle* My hubby really wanted to throw out there this year (so did I, although I can't remember if they have a women's category), but sadly due to some medical stuff we had to hold off for this year. Bummer. It was such fun practicing with the group -- I had been looking forward to competing. Dublin was going to be our first Games. Ah well....

Now, here's hoping hubby doesn't get sick again this year so we can actually stay longer at the TSF! (poor guy... he tried so hard to tough it out last year, but he was feeling so awful we had to cut it short).
