    Armadillo sporran????

I recently aquired (don't ask how) 6 full sized armadillos (no longer living of course). Does anybody know of someone who could make some masked sporrans out of these? I'm guessin' it would be somewhat of a challenge in that armadillos are pretty tough skinned. Nonetheless, it would make for a cool sporran for some of us kilted Texans/rednecks to wear

Those of us who intend to make armadillo sporrans are going to have to de-calcify those plaques before you can shape the animal. That will not be hard, just get in touch with your local histopathology lab tech and tell them what you intend to do. Here is my armadillo sporran-in-waiting. Get eyes from vanDykes taxidermy and get going!

Oddly enough, I remember an armadillo sporran being specifically mentioned/requested at the Loch Norman games this past weekend.

I'd love to see how yours turns out. I've got a friend of a friend who runs a taxidermy shop who might be able to do this for me here. I know he can at least stuff an armadillo so he can probably forge me a nice sporran once I show and explain to him what one is....

Hmm... every time I get an armadillo, it's full of holes.

Full of holes! I love it! Back to business.....the critical thing will be to de-cal. Without that step, you will wind up with fissures, cracks, and pieces.
