    Appropriate sun hats?

I have fair skin and pale eyes. I burn after only a few minutes of exposure to sunlight, and constantly squint if there is any glare at all. So, I wear a broad-brimmed Tilley hat when I am out and about. Like this one, but maybe broader:

(Picture is from the Tilley web site - not me.)

A Glengarry just is not going to give me this sort of protection. What summer headgear can look good with a traditional kilt?

I wear a Tilley with mine. IMHO it's a great look.

Here is a good hat from 5.11 that I wear.

It’s widely known that 5.11 Tactical Series® delivers functionally innovative gear from head to toe. So technically, that makes the Boonie Hat the “head,” while boots comprise the “toe.” This spring, 5.11 Tactical introduced a new color – coyote – to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the 5.11 Tactical Pant. The color proved so popular, 5.11 also added a Boonie Hat, boots and socks in coyote. Popular with outdoor enthusiasts, the packable, traditionally styled Boonie Hat has a slightly ramped crown and a 2-1/4” brim. It’s constructed of the same 8.5-oz., 100% preshrunk cotton canvas as 5.11’s Tactical Pants for extra durability. The hat features vents on each side to help keep you cool, a lanyard for stability and easy attachment to bag or belt, and segmented webbing to easily affix camouflage. The Boonie now comes in three colors: coyote, TDU green and digital woodland, in sizes M, L and new XL. You’ll want at least one of each.

Nice hat, but your kilt is too long...

I've had this Eddie Bauer open weave sun helmet for over twenty years! (Perfect for summer kilted wear.) The truck the same amount of time. Talbot approves of both.

Jock Scot has sighned off on broad brimmed hats for use with the kilt when in the sun.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
