New CD! - Kilted Warriors: Music of the 79th New York Volunteer Infantry

A buddy surprised me with a new CD recently. The subject title is a new (March 2009) music album recording (on CD as well as internet downloads) produced by Andy Redmond and Brant Schroeder. The music is basically tunes for brass, pipes & drums, and fifes & drums from the Civil War era, including older traditional pipe band tunes. The main performers are Caywood Jones on pipes and fife, Andy Redmond on various percussion instruments, and Robert Philbin on horns. There are 7 other contributing musicians, including Laray Collins on vocals.

There are a total of 30 tunes, a full list of which is provided at the CD production website under the link "Music Notes":

I spent the afternoon listening to this CD and was most pleased with it.

I listened to this CD 3 times so far. It's a good mix of fifes, pipes, drums, and brass.

Both Amazon and CDBaby are listing the CD as "out-of-stock" at present; does anyone know of any other sources for it?

It certainly looks like they've done their research; it reminds me of David Kincaid's CDs of Irish Civil War music:

Check out Kincaid's original song "Free and Green":

FYI Caywood "Casey" Jones plays with the Celtic band Na' Bodach and played with the legendary US Air Force Pipe Band in the 1960's. Met him last month at Tuckerton Seaport (NJ)
