Flashes/Garters
A question to all of you, what is the opinion of the rable regarding these ....

It looks like they are trying to mix the old with the new. To my mind it doesn't work because the point of wearing traditional garter ties is to get away from the constriction that you can suffer from when wearing elastic.
You can also purchase trad garter ties for the same price or less. The Scottish Tartan Museum sells them and I knit a rope style that is popular. Again, this is just one fat, old mans opinion.

Being a fat old man myself, I appreciate your opinion. More so because I was thinking along the same lines, I guess I just figured I was missing something.

I've tried the elastic flashes, I find them uncomfortable, and much prefer the traditional garter ties, they can be found for a comparable price.

That is the style I make my flashes in.
I like it much better than with the V cutout.
BUT mine are in tartan.

Well, they look like the ones I made myself after buying traditional garters and found they were too short for my ample calves. But I don't understand about the discomfort with the elastic garters. I keep mine pretty long and there's not much stretch in them. Just enough to keep them clasped and with enough tension to keep the hose from slipping - doesn't take much.

Rex.

If I'm reading that right, you get four colors plus the elastic garters for 10 pounds. That's actually a pretty good deal. They remind me of the ones we wore in the Boy Scouts so many years ago. I'm like Rex, the elastic doesn't bother me, I may have to get some of these. Thanks for the link.

I have no problem with elastic. But what caught my attention was the name of the store. By the link posted, you could not tell that the store was a UK site. I wasn't sure what I was going to see by clicking on the site.
