    What goes with this??

Well, I have now ordered my new Tyneside Tartan Kilt. I was wondering if my black PC would go well with it or would something else be better?? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Is this the Tyneside tartan that you're getting? If so, I think a tweed jacket would look better than any black jacket.

Polo shirts that coordinate with the major colors in the kilt.

I am curious about formal occasions. Would a black PC go with the colors of that particular kilt or would something else go better??

I am not an expert in this; I only know what I have learned here on the forum.

My understanding is that you do not need to worry about whether the jumble of colors in your kilt go well or not with a formal black jacket.

If the color black of a jacket bothers you whith your kilt, then there are options in Highland attire, and mostly only in Highland attire, for formal jackets in other colors. It appears that the only general component of clothing in formal or semi-formal Highland attire that is expected to be black is the shoes, and those will be so shiney that they reflect the colors of your hose... and everything else.
(A dress belt might be expected to be black, but it is not a required part of a formal
ensemble unless a derk is being worn.)

My source on that is the traditionalists of the forum.

    * Watch, someone will now say that the shoes do not need to be black. *

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Like Ted and Bob C. have already pointed out, black is the colour for formal attire
