What are my options
So I am going to Moe's Irish Pub in Milwaukee this weekend and thought it'd be a good time to throw the tartan on (if the weather isn't 80+ degrees). With that said, what is a good way to wear a kilt casually in the summer? I get the running shoes w/some black and white soccer socks as a cool way to replicate an older fashion but what works shirt-wise? I have a Inverness tartan so obviously a green shirt is a bad idea unless I want it to be Christmas in July. With that said, what works with kilts in the summer? I know I could wear a tshirt but I was hoping for something with a little more class.

I've worn a white or blue button down shirt with my Campbell or Scott green kilts(my wife says it is a broadclothshirt), it is coarser than a dress shirt. Also I've worn solid color golf shirts. Wish I had pics to show, need to take more. Hope this helps.

Button down oxford cloth shirts (short or long sleeve), or solid colour polo shirts (a bit more casual) are probably your best choices.

Maybe a nice Henley T?
Those black sneakers, or what about some dark high top trail shoes.
Rugby and Polos always look good!
French point dress shirt? Not short but rolled up.

MOR hit it on the nail. Another option - Wal*Mart do a nice button front white or beige shirt with epaulets. I would post a photo but both of mine are over with the Wizard of BC for embroidery - one XMTS crest, the other MacRae crest.

I'd say a solid colour polo shirt in either one of the secondary colours of the tartan, or a shirt that matches your hose.

Here in Atlanta a lot of us wear polo shirts in the summer: http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...94/index2.html

If you are going casual go casual. I usually go with a nice polo. Works well. Also we have had some red button down shirts made for the Clan Morrison with clan badge here in SoCal and they work great as a knock around shirt.

Denim would be hot though, wouldn't it? What about a upscale T maybe black or dark blue?
