    Life's Odd

    A Chairde

Some days are not like others - today I got my first USA kilt - one of the sport models but with the belt loops and buckles. It looks great and feels wonderful. I think I will go running in it later to see how it preforms.

On the other hand, as I was opening the package my wife told me that my mom has pancreatic cancer - not sure how long she has left.

Life is odd - it gives a little and takes alot.

Please send your prayers to the gods that she lasts a bit longer and the whole thing is as comfortable as it can be for her - I know these things are difficult - I just hope, ... well ... right now I just hope.

Prayers for you and your whole family will be said. Be sure to pass along all the thoughts to your mother, I know it helped mine to know that so many were pulling for her.

Let me say something. It is hard to process and get into your mind, but it would be extremely good if we all could do this. I read this in a book couple of weeks ago and even I can't say that I've embraced this idea fully. At least I try.

You see, anything what happens is neither good nor bad. It’s good or bad while we give this connotation to it. Given this as a starting point you should always think that what happened is the best thing that could happen to you (or other) in given time and situation. My wife is saying for many years that “you never know what something is good for” and this idea is just more extreme version of her thoughts.

Anyhow, I hope you, your mother and all your family will find “peace” and take the most of the time left in your lives.

Sorry for my not perfect knowledge of English, but I hope you got the idea!

Life, and illness, are not fair.
I lost my father nine months ago.
Ten days ago a schoolmate of my younger daughter was taken by Childhood Diabetes. At age 24.

Spend as much time with your mom as you can whatever the circumstances. You will be glad that you did.

And enjoy the kilt. Joyousness doesn't fully conquer fear or anger or sorrow, but it can make the memories of hard times bittersweet rather that just bitter.
Wearing the kilt and other things can be an affirmation of life and hope.

I don't know your family, but in mine life is meant to be lived -- to the fullest -- until it can no longer be.
The elderly and the ill thrive on the liveliness of those younger and healthier. Their heritage.

    Best wishes.
