Drum Major in Training
This Saturday and Sunday I attended the Machern Highland Games near Leipzig Germany. The weather turned out beautiful. Lots of bands and good food.
There was one sequence of events that really made the weekend for me and I'd like to share that with you.
At 1100 Saturday they had the bands and the highland games competitors march down the path from the upper level to the playing fields. It is really something to see and feel when the bands march 4 abreast within arms length of you!
Here is one photo of the Drum Majors, preceeded by a wee one.

On Sunday, the Drum Majors put on an exhibition. Shortly before that I passed by where they were practicing. Just happened to be in the right place when I saw the following sequence.

Finally, here are two pics from the exhibition itself.

The little girl is six, her father, showing her how to do it is 61. He was last year's Champion. I suspect she will do well in this area in the future.
I'll post other pictures of the Games separately.
Regards,
Tom

"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon
